The walls of the Athens Capital Hotel-MGallery echo the modern history of the capital. In the late 1950s, Kostas Kitsikis designed the original building to house the legendary Royal Palace in 1959, one of the city’s most important hotels, housing the Athenian and international elite for decades. Sixty years later, the Syntagma Square landmark has been revived as the Athens Capital Hotel-MGallery.
Respecting the historicity of the building, the area and the Athenian urban architecture, MTArchitects – Massouridis Theodoraki Architects’ design approach fuses the past with the present while maintaining classic and elegant lines, while MKV Design’s interior architecture draws inspiration from Greek nature and the timelessness of art. The lighting design for the building and all of its spaces was developed by Lighting Design International, a leader in the field, and lighting designer Chris Lewis.
